A couple weeks ago I found out about the Infect By Art Volume 4 contest. I decided to use that as motivation to improve upon a couple pieces and finish them for good. For the Demon Sorcerer, I added a few more faces, hands and feet trying to get out of his ghostly whirlwind. I also added a little bit of clothing, which you may not have noticed. Can't have my demons running around naked! Here's a little before/after comparison:
Then it came to the Witch of the Wood. I have never been completely happy with the hair on the original, I just didn't feel like going back and changing it. Well, I ended up cutting all the hair off and just started from scratch. It looks much more natural and has a better feel that it's in motion. I also tilted her head up slightly because it was hard to see the face. Then I had the idea to give her a companion. I originally sculpted a fox, but I thought it was a little too "normal" for a creature in my fantasy world. So I re-sculpted it and gave it subtle differences to distance it from any real-world animals, but still look like it could have evolved from something else. Here's another comparison shot:
One day I'll get around to taking more pics from different angles. Right now, I need to sculpt!
